Assaf & Mackenzie, PLLC was established when Michael D. Assaf and Melody A. Mackenzie formed their partnership in June of 2006. Together Mr. Assaf and Ms. Mackenzie have established a wide ranging general practice with an emphasis on matrimonial and family law. The firm provides services in civil litigation, business formation and disputes, estate planning and litigation, bankruptcy law, and collections.
Additionally, Assaf & Mackenzie is pleased to be among the first firms in the capital district to offer collaborative divorce services. Collaborative divorce offers an alternative to adversarial divorce proceedings. By maintaining constructive out of court communication between the parties while maintaining the support and protection of an attorney, collaborative divorce works toward beneficial conflict resolution. Mr. Assaf brings a multidisciplinary approach to the practice of law that gives his clients a unique advantage in resolving problems that extend across legal disciplines as well as in maintaining continuity of representation for different legal issues faced by clients over time.
Ms. Mackenzie practices almost exclusively in the areas of domestic relations and family law. She brings her experience in complex domestic relations and custody cases to both her litigation practice and her practice of collaborative divorce.
